What is Limestone?
Limestone is a sandy sedimentary rock formed closer to the earth's surface and often captures fossilized plant and animal life. The composite of limestone is Calcium Carbonate (Calcite) or the double carbonate of Calcium and Magnesium (Dolomite). It also contains a variety of accessory minerals, silica, pyrite, iron oxides, clay minerals and bituminous matter from organic materials (plant & animals).

What color variations or finishes are available in Limestone?
Range is in the pastel colors from white to creams through beige to pinkish soft yellows through browns to rich crimson medium green to dark blue-green gray to black. Patterns vary from solid to variegated. Any finish that is available is possible, depending on the variety.

What size projects do you work on and will you work outside of California?
Our project sizes vary. We have sculpted beautiful elegant small personalized statues for clients to massive architectural structures. Yes, we have had the fortune to have our work requested from all over the world.

Do you only do custom work?
No. We are often requested to craft projects that have been uniquely designed by clients or designs our artisan have produced at client's request.

How do I clean and protect Limestone?
Natural stone bears natures many complexities and shows large variations in its absorption, density and hardness. These have an important impact on how to protect and preserve the appearance and beauty of the stone. Due to these natural variations many stone surfaces can easily lose their appealing aesthetic qualities due to damage resulting from the everyday wear of foot-traffic, spills, harsh cleaners and the weathering elements. The fact that stone is absorbent and has a mineral chemistry that can react in strange ways to conventional cleaners, makes the proper selection of cleaners very important for successfully maintaining stone on a daily basis. Stone care products have been formulated to effectively solve the specific cleaning problems related to the absorbent and mineral characteristics of stone. For additional information, please check with us for the appropriate product.

Can I customize my project with my family crest or initials?
Yes. You can customize your project by adding a sculpture of your family crest or another design of your choosing. We can also personalize it with a name or initials. Charges and time required will vary based upon complexity.

Can you furnish me a reference list of completed projects?
Once engaged to do a project, we will provide references which suit the project type. Please view our gallery of projects right here on our web site.
